Attention high school students!

The Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation is excited to announce our “Dramatic Reading Without Boundaries” contest.  Here’s your chance to showcase a favorite literary piece at the Rainbow Bookfest on April 28, 2007!

Here are the guidelines:

1. Each participant will have up to five minutes to deliver his or her presentation.

2. Use no more than one minute to introduce yourself and the book you chose.

3. Don't forget to tell us the title of the book, who the author is, what the book is about, when it was written and the setting of the book.

4. Your conclusion should not take longer than one minute.  In your conclusion, summarize what you got out of the book and what makes this book special to you.

5. Dress appropriately for your presentation.  This could mean dressing more formally than you usually do, or dressing "dramatically" in a costume that represents a character or setting in your literary selection.

This contest is open to all high school students in Washington state.  Your selected passage must be from an English-language text and must be written by an author of color - that is, someone of Asian, African, Native or Latino descent.
