I peer from across the room and see my friend sitting near the window and reading a book. I notice that she has started to break out a little and has a stain on her sweater. Her socks are mismatched. She has a patch of dry skin on her hand, which bothers me.

When encountering an Asian American student at school, non-Asian students likely develop common stereotypes concerning that person. They might assume that the Asian American student possesses an exceptional talent for math and science. They might also assume that the student has difficulty speaking English.

During my stay at SYLP, we talked about diversity. However, with diversity, there is racism. I think the root of racism can be traced back to the Holocaust and American slavery.
