Misato Sandoval, an 8th-grader at Gateway Middle School in Everett, competed in two major elite Judo tournaments last month in France.

At the Harnes International tournament, she placed 7th out of 45 in her age/weight division. She followed that up with a gold medal at the Tournament Lanester, where she competed against 10 others. Junior competitors come from all over the world to participate in both tournaments.

Misato began training in Judo at the age of 9. Her dream is to one day be in the Olympics. (end)
