For two years in a row, ReWa’s annual dinner transformed a hotel into one of the most elegant venues in town. But last year, ReWa’s 25th anniversary event was held at Benoraya Hall. This year, it was held at McCaw Hall. That’s a gutsy move. Both halls are big with lots of seats to fill, and they are hard to fill because of the economy. Many nonprofits would hesitate to even try those places.

Someireh Amirfaiz, ReWa’s executive director, found that using those venues is actually less expensive than using hotels and that the dinner required less work than running an auction for the organization’s fund-raising purposes. And she did it without a big staff. It was basically a one-person office. Shui Ching Mo managed the event in addition to recruiting sponsors. What a tough act to follow! (end)
