A large number of Seattle artists helped in Japan recovery efforts in Artists for Japan, a two-day event at KOBO at HIGO, raising more than $91,000. All artworks sold — paintings, drawings, calligraphy, sumi-e, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, prints, and more — were donated.

No commissions were paid; all of the hard costs and labor were donated.

The Murakami family (owners of Higo) matched $10,000 in donations. ♦
