Local boy heads to D.C. for inaugurationLast updated 1-15-09 at 2:01 p.m.Peter Tian, 15, packed his bags and flew to Washington, D.C. from
Washington state to attend the Obama’s inauguration. Tian,
a Chinese American, is a student at Interlake High School in Bellevue.
He is an honor student, and a member of the high school’s swim
team. Tian is very much involved in his community. He
visits retirement homes and plays his violin for the residents. Tian is going to D.C. as part of a leadership training
program for youths at Interlake. Part of the program included invitations
for students to attend the inauguration. Interlake High School is a public high school, and offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The school is part of the Bellevue School District No. 405, and the school’s teams are known as the “Saints,” which is short for “Saint Bernards.” |
