The YMCA of Greater Seattle recognized four individuals with the YMCA A.K. Guy Award. Larry Gossett, Roberto Maestas, Bob Santos, and the late Bernie Whitebear were honored at the 26th Anniversary YMCA A.K. Guy Award Luncheon at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel.

The “four amigos” have been among the most influential and charismatic leaders in the community since the late 1960s. The four men founded Making Our Votes Effective (MOVE) and the Minority Executive Directors Coalition (MEDC). Individually, each has founded or led a community organization, including the Central Area Motivation Program (CAMP), El Centro de la Raza, InterIm Community Development Association, and United Indians of All Tribes Foundation. ♦
