Husband and wife duo, Warren Chang and Buyun Zhao have introduced the traditional Chinese genre of music to the Seattle community over the last two decades. They founded the first organization dedicated to Chinese music in Washington state.

“During the Cultural Revolution, everything was destroyed except for music and sports, so [music is] an important thing in China. … We will continue to perform, teach, and perform classical Chinese music for the community.” ♦

Chang and Zhao are being honored as pioneers in music by the Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation on Oct. 16 at China Harbor Restaurant.
